Media expert Bolaji pays tribute to late vice chancellor of UI

Prominent scholar and media expert, Akinyemi Bolaji, has paid tribute to the late Professor Ayo Ladipo Banjo, an English-Language scholar and former vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan (UI).

The tribute marks the second year of the former VC’s death.

In the tribute, Dr. Bolaji, who served as his special assistant on Media and Public Affairs while at the National Universities Commission (NUC) between 2016 and 2019, described Professor Banjo as a visionary leader whose wisdom, kindness, and guidance left a lasting impression on those who worked closely with him.

He recalled his period of service under the late academic, noting that he witnessed firsthand the professor’s leadership style, which he said was defined by discipline, humility, and commitment to educational advancement.

Prof. Banjo was equally praised for his extensive contributions to university administration, having served on several academic boards and committees across Nigeria.

According to Dr. Bolaji, the late scholar’s academic journey reflected a lifelong dedication to educational excellence and institutional development, adding that his legacy continues to inspire students, academics, and professionals.

He further revealed that Professor Banjo’s contributions to Nigeria’s educational landscape remain immeasurable, describing his memory as a guiding light within the academic community.
