Akure woman raises alarm over daughters’ mysterious death, disappearance

An Akure-based woman named Sandra Osatuyi has raised an alarm over the sudden death of her two daughters and alleged disappearance of her third child in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Osatuyi appealed to security agencies and the public to help locate her surviving daughter, claiming the teenager has not been released to her despite a directive from the police.

It was gathered that the three girls had been living with their father, Olofintayo Moses Akinpelumi Adekunle, an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, after his marriage to Osatuyi ended in 2000 in Akure.

Adekunle later relocated to Ibadan with the children and remarried, making his new wife their stepmother.

Trouble reportedly began last Wednesday when two of the girls, Prosper Olofintayo, 14, and Elizabeth Olofintayo, 12, alongside their stepmother, died under controversial circumstances at their residence in the Eleta area of Ibadan, with residents suspecting poisoning.

The two girls were subsequently buried in Ibadan, however, Osatuyi claimed that her eldest daughter, Precious-Praise Olofintayo, 18, who reportedly survived the incident, had not been seen since the burial.

The distraught mother said she had reported the matter to the Oyo State Police Command and urged authorities, rights groups and the public to help locate the teenager, adding that the police had earlier directed her former husband to release the girl to her custody.
