The Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his resilience, political acumen, and enduring influence in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic on his 74th birthday.
In a congratulatory message marking the President’s 74th birthday, conveyed through his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, on Sunday, the Alaafin described President Tinubu as a defining figure, a mentor to a new generation of leaders, and a statesman devoted to public service and national development.
The Paramount Ruler acknowledged that President Tinubu is not without critics but said his political career is a phenomenon worth studying.
“In a democracy where many fade after one term, he has remained relevant for a quarter of a century. That endurance is no accident. It is proof that leadership, when matched with vision and structure, can outlast storms,” he said.
Oba Owoade highlighted President Tinubu’s unique ability to build and sustain a political network that has endured political shifts, quarrels, and federal pressures, noting that his story is one of structure, loyalty, and resilience.
The Alaafin also commended the President’s economic and governance reforms, including measures to strengthen fiscal discipline, reduce debt servicing, increase government revenue, and rehabilitate infrastructure to stimulate commerce.
He added that President Tinubu’s commitment to democratic ideals, from his activism against military rule to his current presidency, underscores his status as a visionary leader.
“As he marks this milestone, his ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda will reshape Nigeria’s global identity and set the nation on a steady path to prosperity,” Oba Owoade said.
