Alake: Nigeria Mining Week 2023 to showcase the potential of the mining sector

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has announced the preparations for the 8th Edition of the Nigeria Mining Week, 2023, which will take place from October 16 to October 18, 2023.
The Nigeria Mining Week is an annual event that aims to celebrate and uplift the Nigerian mining sector, which plays a pivotal role in diversifying the economy and creating employment opportunities for the citizens.
The theme for this year’s event is “Unlocking Nigeria’s Mining Potential”, which reflects the government’s commitment to harness the abundant mineral resources that are spread across the country.
The minister said that the key objectives for the Nigeria Mining Week 2023 include knowledge sharing, investment promotion, sustainable practices, skills development, and infrastructure development.
He said that the event will provide a platform for industry experts, stakeholders, and government officials to exchange ideas and strengthen the concepts of industry best practices, fostering innovation and enhancing the overall competitiveness of the mining sector.
Alake, said that the theme for this year’s event reflects the government’s commitment to harness the abundant mineral resources that are spread across the country.
“Beneath our soil lie vast mineral resources that harbor tremendous potential for growth and prosperity. This potential extends not only to our nation but also to the wider African Continent,” he said.
He also said that sustainability lies at the core of the vision for the mining sector, and that the event will underscore the importance of responsible mining practices that respect the environment, host communities, and cultural heritage.
“Sustainability is a fundamental aspect of Unlocking Nigeria’s Mining Potential,” he said.
He expressed his optimism for a successful Nigeria Mining Week 2023 and thanked all those who have joined him at the press conference.
“This Event avails an ample opportunity for collective action and collaboration between the public and private sectors, civil society, and international partners,” he said.
He also said that the event will highlight the investment opportunities inherent in Nigeria’s mining landscape, such as the stable and favorable investment climate created by the Presidential Business Enabling Environment Initiative and the attractive incentives provided by the Federal Government.
He invited both local and international investors to explore the vast potentials in the mining sector in Nigeria for growth and profitability, contributing to the realization of aspiration of shared benefits of the earth’s resources.
