The national leadership of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has officially recognized the reinstated All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen and councillors in Osun State as the legitimate council officials.

In a letter addressed to the Osun ALGON Chairman, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun, the association affirmed its support for the Court of Appeal’s decision reinstating the APC council officials.

ALGON’s National President, Hon. (Engr.) Bello Lawal, in the letter signed by the Director-General, Barr. (Mrs.) Evan Enekwe, urged caution, tolerance, and maturity in handling the situation.

He also assured that ALGON would engage with the leadership of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) to encourage local government staff in the state to resume their duties.

The letter reads in part: “ALGON is a law-abiding association that upholds the rule of law and, as such, recognizes the Court of Appeal’s decision reinstating you and your colleagues as the legal council chairmen in Osun State.

However, we urge caution, tolerance, and maturity in managing the current situation.”

“ALGON leadership will engage with NULGE to seek their intervention and appeal to local government staff to return to their lawful duties.

ALGON remains committed to supporting its members, and you can count on our cooperation.”
