The Lagos State Government on Tuesday said it had intensified efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability and operational efficiency across its parastatals and government-owned companies to improve service delivery and drive sustainable development.

The Permanent Secretary, Parastatals Monitoring Office, Olugbenga Aina, disclosed this during the 2026 Annual Ministerial Press Briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, Ikeja.

Aina said the office had continued to ensure that state-owned agencies operate in line with established administrative and financial regulations.

According to him, Lagos currently has 102 parastatals, agencies and government-owned companies operating across sectors including transportation, energy, finance, commerce, health and communications.

He explained that the office had focused on improving compliance, operational efficiency and financial prudence among government entities over the past year.

“As the office responsible for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of government-owned entities, the PMO remains committed to ensuring that these organisations deliver on their mandates in alignment with the vision of the governor for sustainable development, efficient service delivery and good governance,” Aina said.

Highlighting key achievements, the permanent secretary said the office organised a three-day maiden retreat for chief executive officers and heads of parastatals, agencies and government-owned companies to strengthen leadership capacity and institutional performance.

Aina added that the Parastatal Monitoring Office monitored more than 25 project sites across various agencies to improve transparency in project execution, identify delays, strengthen oversight and ensure proper utilisation of public funds.
