Allegation of Oyetola’s interference in APC screening false – spokesperson
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Special Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Bolaji Akinola, has described as baseless and misleading the allegations by an Osun governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, that the Minister, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, interfered in the party’s screening process.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Akinola said Omisore’s claims were “totally false”, stressing that the Minister had no role, whether direct or indirect, in the Screening Committee’s decisions regarding the 13 December primary.
He said Oyetola did not and could not have meddled in the screening exercise or the affairs of the Screening Committee and the Screening Appeal Panel, noting that the bodies are independent organs empowered by the APC Constitution to function without interference.
Akinola emphasised that Oyetola has always upheld fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to party rules — principles he said the Minister would never compromise.
He added that as a former governor of Osun State and respected leader of the APC, Oyetola remains committed to internal democracy and would never interfere in a process where he has no statutory role.
Akinola urged aspirants to channel any complaints through the party’s established mechanisms.
