Allegations of financial misconduct against acting DG false – NCAA

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has strongly denied recent media reports alleging financial impropriety, including the purchase of a luxury vehicle valued at over N250 million.
The agency also threatened legal action against the online publisher unless the story is retracted.
Recall that over the weekend, an online publication reported allegations of financial misconduct, government procurement violations, and abuse of office against Capt. Chris Najomo, who was appointed as acting director-general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) a few months ago.
Reacting to the allegations which implied the new DG had procured the private vehicle with public funds, Mr. Michael Achimugu, the director of public affairs and consumer protection at NCAA, clarified that no such actions had occurred since Captain Chris Najomo assumed the role of acting director-general.
He stated that no official vehicles have been provided to any directors since Najomo’s appointment.
Addressing concerns about training payments, Achimugu attributed delays to the presidential ban on foreign trips. Despite this, he assured that training approvals have been granted, and payments have been processed, awaiting the lifting of the travel restriction.
Achimugu further highlighted Captain Najomo’s accomplishments, including the clearance of housing rent arrears dating back to 2019, emphasizing the director-general’s commitment to staff welfare and operational efficiency.
