Alli commends Tinubu, Uzodimma over rescue of 20 Oyo corps members
By Adejayan Gbenga –
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has commended President Bola Tinubu, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and security agencies over the rescue of 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from Oyo State who were abducted in Imo State.
The prospective corps members were kidnapped last week while travelling to Imo State for the mandatory national service programme.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the director of media and publicity of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele, Alli described their rescue as a welcome development and a demonstration of the commitment of the Federal Government and security agencies to protecting Nigerians.
The APC candidate praised Tinubu and Uzodimma for their leadership, while commending the security agencies for what he described as their courage, professionalism and coordinated efforts that led to the successful rescue of the victims.
Alli said the safe return of the prospective corps members was particularly significant to their families, who had been subjected to anxiety following the abduction. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the rescued victims and their relatives from the trauma associated with the incident.
The former Oyo Central senator also called for the identification and prosecution of those responsible for the abduction, stressing the need to ensure that perpetrators of such acts are brought to justice.
Alli urged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing useful and timely information that could assist them in preventing crimes and responding quickly to security threats.
The APC governorship candidate said efforts to strengthen security and protect citizens must remain a priority as the country continues to confront security challenges across different parts of the country.
