The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has donated a brand-new Toyota Camry to Rachael Alamu, the principal of Community High School, Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area, following her release from captivity after weeks in the hands of kidnappers.

The vehicle was presented on Monday in the presence of the lawmaker representing Afijio/Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Akeem Adeyemi. The donation was described as a gesture of support and encouragement for the school principal as she begins her recovery from the traumatic experience.

Mrs. Alamu is currently receiving medical treatment at the Military Hospital in Ibadan after regaining her freedom alongside other abducted teachers and pupils who spent several weeks in captivity. She is also undergoing medical observation and psychological support following the ordeal.

Photos from the presentation, shared by Ibadan-based radio station Yes FM, showed Alli handing over the new vehicle to the rescued principal. The donation has since attracted widespread reactions, with many describing it as a thoughtful act of solidarity with one of the victims of the abduction.

Earlier, a viral video recorded shortly after her rescue showed the visibly emotional principal asking security operatives about the safety of her husband and the whereabouts of her vehicle. The officers reassured her that her family was safe and comforted her before she was taken for medical attention.

Alamu was among the teachers and pupils abducted on May 15, 2026, when armed men attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area in one of Oyo State’s most disturbing school abductions. The incident sparked widespread concern and renewed calls for improved security around schools.

However, the victims regained their freedom on Friday after spending several weeks in captivity following a coordinated security operation. Their rescue brought relief to families, residents and other stakeholders who had anxiously awaited their safe return.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Government has pledged continued support for the rescued victims, including rehabilitation and measures to ensure the pupils return to school without disruption. Security agencies have also intensified efforts to strengthen safety in schools and vulnerable communities across the state, while the donation to Alamu has been widely viewed as a symbol of hope as she rebuilds her life.
