Amaechi formally joins ADC ahead of presidential election primary

Former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Amaechi completed his registration at Ward 8 in Ubima, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State on Friday morning.

The development came hours after the ADC office in the community was set ablaze by unknown persons.

Residents reportedly woke up to an early morning fire that destroyed a section of the party’s office and caused panic in the area.

Addressing supporters who gathered to receive him, Amaechi urged them to avoid any form of violence that could lead to loss of life.

“Don’t be violent because violence may lead to the death of somebody — don’t be violent. At the same time, they can’t stop us from meeting in our community,” he said.

He also commended security agencies for their conduct, thanking the commissioner of police and the Department of State Services (DSS) for what he described as their professionalism.

Amaechi further called on security authorities to investigate the incident and bring those responsible for burning the ADC office in Ubima to justice.
