The President of FIBA Africa Zone 3 and a member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Retired Colonel Samuel Ahmedu, has expressed his delight over the honor and recognition accorded to him by the Africa Military Games (AMGA) and the Local Organizing Committee in Abuja.

Ahmedu was invited as a Special Guest at the Games and had the privilege of presenting medals during the event held over the weekend. Reflecting on the experience, Ahmedu, a seasoned sports administrator and retired Nigerian Army officer, said:

“It was indeed a great honor and privilege for me, as a retired military personnel and a product of the legendary Nigerian Armed Forces sporting system, to be part of this prestigious event.”

He extended his gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (OFR), and the Organizing Committee for deeming him worthy of such recognition.

“Thank you for organizing such a massive and successful Games and for honoring me alongside another NBBF board member, Professor Florence Adeyanju. The event was beautifully organized, and I am deeply appreciative,” Ahmedu remarked.

Ahmedu further recounted presenting gold medals to the Cameroonian Armed Forces Women’s Basketball Team, winners of the Female Basketball event, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, alongside Professor Florence Adeyanju.

The Africa Military Games in Abuja features 48 participating countries competing in 19 sports disciplines. The event is set to conclude this weekend.
