Amosun loyalist, Akinlade formally received by Ogun PDP after dumping APC

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Sikirulahi Ogundele on Friday formerly received Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade into the party.
Akinlade, former governorship candidate of Allied Peoples Movement (APM), defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) last week.
Ogundele was supported by Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, the governorship candidate of the PDP to receive Akinlade, who is a close associate of former governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Hundreds of party faithful defied the rain to welcome Akinlade and his loyalists into the party.
Akinlade was a governorship aspirant on the platform of APC for the 2023 election but lost to the incumbent, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
He was Amosun’s anointed candidate as successor in 2019 before deserting the party to form the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
Speculation is rife that Akinlade will serve as Ladi Adebutu’s running mate for the 2023 governorship election.
