The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, has arrested four suspected members of a criminal syndicate linked to kidnapping, armed robbery and violent attacks across the state.

The Commander of the corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the Amotekun headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, on Thursday.

According to Adeleye, the arrests followed intensified security operations launched in response to rising cases of kidnapping, robbery and other violent crimes in parts of the state.

He said, “Acting on credible intelligence and sustained operations, we tracked down members of the gang responsible for several violent robberies, kidnappings and destruction of property.”

The commander revealed that the gang leader, who allegedly received instructions from outside Ondo State, was arrested during a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of the corps.

According to him, “Their supply line was broken and apprehended, while other members of the syndicate were equally arrested during the operation.”

Adeleye further revealed that the suspects had been transferred to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation and prosecution, adding that they confessed to several criminal activities that contributed to insecurity in the state in recent months.

“In the last one month, about 142 suspects have been charged to court for offences including kidnapping, cultism and anti-grazing violations, while another 64 suspects are currently being profiled for prosecution,” the police source added.
