Nigeria’s home based Super Eagles, ended their run in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on a victorious note, after beating Congo 2-0 on Tuesday night.
The Nigerians struck twice in the second half of the Group D final match to secure the first and only victory in the championship.
Reigning top scorer of the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), Anas Yusuf, justified his choice in the starting line up for the first time in the championship.
The Nasarawa United forward, put the Eagles ahead in the 57th minute, scoring from close range.
Remo Stars’ striker, Sikiru Alimi made victory sure for the Nigerians with the second goal later on.
Having lost their first two matches against Senegal and Sudan, the win, which ensured the Eagles finished with three points, was just a consolation as the team heads back home.
