APC accuses Adeleke administration of neglecting Osun’s education sector

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration over its handling of the education sector, alleging a series of failures that have left public schools in the state in disarray.

In a statement issued by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC accused the Adeleke-led government of jeopardizing the present and future of the state’s youth.

The statement partly reads:
“One of the administrative missteps of the Adeleke administration was the thoughtless and undiplomatic dismissal of 1,500 teachers recruited into the state’s public schools by his predecessor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, through an executive order.

“One would have expected that Adeleke had a magic wand to facilitate the employment of new teachers within a short period. However, it is disheartening that the issue of recruiting teachers has been stagnant since then.

“It is unfortunate that while neighboring states like Oyo and Ekiti have successfully employed teachers multiple times, the efforts of the Osun State Government to conduct even a single recruitment exercise remain elusive, reflecting a lack of direction.

“Adeleke has repeatedly dashed the hopes of prospective teachers, with the government’s handling of the matter amounting to motion without progress.

“Given the administration’s inability to equip public schools with teachers, despite its earlier declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector, it would be honorable for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government to refund the money paid for the failed employment forms to the individual applicants.”
