APC chides PDP Reps over probe into Osun LG allocations

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has challenged the eight Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members representing the state in the House of Representatives to account for their constituency funds before raising concerns over local government allocations.
This followed a letter reportedly written by the lawmakers to President Bola Tinubu, in which they accused the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) of withholding allocations meant for Osun’s 30 local government areas for four months.
In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC described the allegation as false and misleading, accusing the lawmakers of hypocrisy.
“It is shameful that legislators who have collected billions in constituency allowances without tangible projects to show are questioning local government allocations,” Olabisi said.
He accused the lawmakers of meddling in a matter beyond their constitutional responsibilities, adding that their actions lacked moral and legal backing.
Olabisi insisted that only the reinstated, legally elected council chairmen were entitled to access the funds in question, and that withdrawal processes were currently ongoing.
He accused the PDP lawmakers of attempting to twist the narrative and mislead the public, claiming their real motive was to score political points.
“The claim of CBN withholding funds is a fallacy. The rightful council executives are processing the disbursements as required by law,” he said.
