The All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded the emergence of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, as the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam.
He was unanimously elected at the 13th Central Committee meeting of the Party presided over by the Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, to fill the vacuum created by the death of the former Secretary General, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, who passed on recently.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Friday, APC said “We commended the Communist Party on the seamless transition, and for finding Comrade To Lam worthy to lead the Party at this point of its national evolution.
“A Professor of Law with sterling pedigree of public service, we are confident that the new Secretary General will uphold the traditions of the Communist Party, and consolidate on its achievements, especially stepping up Party building and rectification. Hopes are also high that the new Party leader will chart a new course for both the Communist Party and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
“We extend our hope for continued cooperation with the Party and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam”.
