APC faults Adeleke govt over half-salary claims against Oyebamiji

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke over claims linking its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, to the half-salary regime previously experienced in the state, describing the allegation as false and misleading.

The party said the Osun State Government had accused the APC and its candidate of misleading youths by portraying Oyebamiji as a youth-friendly aspirant, while alleging that he was the chief architect of the half-salary era in the state.

In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Monday, the APC accused Adeleke and his political allies of attempting to rewrite history by wrongly attributing the half-salary regime to Oyebamiji.

The APC described Oyebamiji as the figure who rescued Osun from the scourge of half salary, stressing that his appointment as Commissioner for Finance marked the end of the modulated salary payment regime.

Olabisi stated that Oyebamiji stabilised the state’s economy and restored full salary payments before the expiration of the administration of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

He added that Wale Bolorunduro, currently an economic adviser to Governor Adeleke and a former Commissioner for Finance under Aregbesola, was the finance commissioner when the modulated salary payment began, a fact he said was well known in the state.

According to the APC, it was unfortunate that the Adeleke administration was making what it described as baseless claims, which it said reflected incompetence and a lack of vision in governing Osun State.

The party expressed confidence that character assassination would not prevent the defeat of Governor Adeleke and his party in the August 8, 2026 governorship election, declaring that the people of Osun State were ready to vote the current administration out of office.
