Midterm review: APC Governors, Ministers meet, praise Tinubu on economic reforms

By Kunle Sanni
Governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have declared that President Bola Tinubu has been vindicated in his leadership and reform agenda since assuming office in 2023. This followed a closed-door strategy meeting in Abuja attended by about 20 APC governors, federal ministers, and party leaders.
The meeting, reported by Arise TV, was part of preparations for the midterm review of Tinubu’s administration. Among the attendees were Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Mohammed Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta). APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and ministers Lateef Fagbemi, Festus Keyamo, and Mohammed Idris were also present.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, told journalists that growing international recognition of Tinubu’s reforms, particularly from the World Bank and IMF, had silenced early critics. He said the administration’s economic and structural policies are gaining traction.
“At the start of this administration, opposition voices were loud,” Uzodinma said. “But today, the President is being vindicated. We are proud of the bold leadership he has shown.”
He added that the APC remains unified behind Tinubu and committed to effective governance. “We met to reassess, realign, and renew our commitment—not only to the party but to the Nigerian people,” Uzodinma noted.
Addressing the recent Supreme Court ruling on local government autonomy, Uzodinma said the APC respects the rule of law and will comply with any decision of the court, regardless of political implications.
As the administration’s May 29 anniversary approaches, Uzodinma disclosed that the APC National Working Committee will soon release a lineup of activities to celebrate key achievements.
Minister of Information Mohammed Idris also addressed reporters, stating that the party is pleased with the administration’s progress so far and is working to increase public awareness while engaging citizens for feedback.
