APC governors set to launch Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign – Uzodimma
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governors are set to launch political mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, with campaigns expected to commence immediately following his return from a working leave.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and serves as Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council, disclosed this on Sunday after meeting Tinubu at his Lagos residence.
He said he briefed the President on developments during his absence and the activities of APC governors in promoting the administration’s policies and achievements.
“The President has just come back from a working leave. And while he was away, we were working in Nigeria. And it is only fair that he is briefed on the happenings in the country and an interim report given to him as to the issues on ground,” Uzodimma said.
“I came and briefed him. We had a very quality conversation, and he is now aware of the things that happened while he was away and the efforts of the governors in the Progressive Governors’ Forum in making sure that Nigerians are properly aware of the achievements of his government and the policies.
“We referred straight to our campaign outing, which will start almost immediately since he is now back.”
Uzodimma said the governors would focus on communicating the administration’s achievements to Nigerians while ensuring that citizens experienced the benefits of its economic reforms.
According to him, the emphasis has shifted from implementing the reforms to delivering tangible benefits to Nigerians, particularly at the grassroots.
“We have already taken cue from that broadcast, and that is exactly what we are doing. The reform policy has moved from implementation to ensuring that the people of Nigeria get the dividends of the reform policy itself,” he said.
