APC LG chairmen, councillors endorse Omisore for 2026 governorship

Some elected chairmen, councillors, and ward executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have endorsed Otunba Iyiola Omisore as their preferred candidate for the 2026 governorship election on the party’s platform.
At a series of consultation and stakeholder engagements, the politicians—later named coordinators for the party primaries that will produce the APC candidate—highlighted Omisore’s pedigree, loyalty to the party, and political experience, declaring him the best choice to return the APC to power in the state.
The Chairman of the APC Chairmen’s Forum, Hon. Rufus Awotidoye, said Omisore’s decision to work directly with council and ward leaders marked a departure from “the old practice” of sidelining them. He added that the move had reassured grassroots leaders of a central role if the APC regains power.
Similarly, Hon. Ojeleye Emmanuel, who leads the Forum of Ward Chairmen, lamented the neglect of grassroots leaders in past party structures but vowed that his colleagues would “work assiduously” to deliver Omisore at the November 2025 primaries.
While hosting the Osun State Forum of Councillors, Hon. Ismaila Fafiyebe praised Omisore’s strategy of engaging grassroots leaders, describing it as proof of his deep understanding of party politics as a former APC National Secretary.
Addressing about 375 councillors present, Fafiyebe moved the motion for Omisore’s formal endorsement as the party’s governorship aspirant, which was unanimously adopted.
