The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has apologised to party members who felt hurt, excluded or unfairly treated during the party’s internal processes ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda tendered the apology on Thursday in Ibadan during the launch of the APC campaign office in Oyo State, where he appealed to aggrieved members to forgive the party and work towards restoring unity.

The APC national chairman said the National Working Committee took responsibility for mistakes made during the internal processes, noting that the committees responsible for conducting the exercises were constituted by the national leadership.

Yilwatda said the national leadership could not distance itself from the actions of the committees because they were established to represent the party, adding that any mistakes made in the course of the processes were therefore the responsibility of the NWC.

“If anybody is hurt, if anybody is injured, if anybody is prevented or excluded in any form or the other, we take responsibility,” Yilwatda said, appealing to affected members to accept the party’s apology.

He urged APC members at polling units, wards and local government areas across the country to treat disagreements within the party as an internal family matter and focus on rebuilding unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, Yilwatda assured party stakeholders that the APC was taking Oyo State seriously because of its strategic importance and large voting population, while the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, commended him for fulfilling promises made to the state within two days.

Alli thanked the national chairman for meeting with governorship aspirants and other stakeholders, saying the achievements recorded during his visit surpassed what the state chapter had been able to accomplish, and assured him that Oyo APC would continue to take steps to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
