The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has visited Oyo State as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structures ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Yilwatda, accompanied by the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and other members of the APC National Working Committee, arrived in Ibadan, the state capital, on Wednesday for a series of engagements with party stakeholders.

As part of the visit, the APC national chairman attended an award ceremony at Lead City University, where he was honoured for his contributions to national development and democratic governance.

Yilwatda subsequently paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Senator) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, at the Olubadan Palace in Ibadan.

During the visit, Ladoja offered prayers for the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, his running mate, Hon. Adesoji Adedeji, and other party candidates contesting various elective positions.

The APC delegation to the palace included Alli, Adedeji, the Oyo State APC Chairman, Dr. Moses Adeyemo Alake, members of the National Assembly caucus and other party leaders.

The three-day visit is expected to feature further engagements with APC stakeholders across the state, with discussions focused on strengthening party unity, reconciling differences and addressing internal issues that could affect the party’s electoral prospects.

An APC chieftain in Oyo State, Rt. Hon. Prince Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi, expressed optimism that the visit would yield positive results, saying the presence of the national leadership would provide an opportunity for meaningful discussions and further consolidate the APC as a united political family in the state.
