APC not perfect, still Nigeria’s best choice – Keyamo
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has defended the All Progressives Congress (APC), acknowledging its shortcomings but insisting it remains a more viable political platform than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a post shared on X on Saturday, accompanied by a video clip, Keyamo clarified remarks he made during a 2017 interview, which he said had recently been misrepresented. According to him, portions of his original comments were edited to distort his position.
He explained that in the full version of the interview, he had stated clearly that while the APC is not made up of saints, it was still a better alternative to the PDP. Keyamo stressed that describing any political party as flawless would be unrealistic.
“And today, I repeat it again, I will be a fool to say APC is a party of saints. And anyone who declares any party to which he/she belongs as a party of saints will also be a fool,” he wrote.
The minister argued that every political organisation has its imperfections, but maintained that the APC offers greater promise for Nigeria’s progress. He cautioned against returning to what he described as the PDP era, noting that some individuals currently vying for the presidency were prominent during that time.
“But, on the balance, the APC still holds the best hope for the country and we cannot return to the era of PDP where you had some of the characters who are running for president today,” he added.
Keyamo further pointed out that President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not associate himself with the PDP during that period, suggesting a consistent political stance.
