APC postpones Governor Kefas’ reception, condemns opposition’s call for foreign intervention

By Kunle Sanni –

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday announced the postponement of its planned reception for the Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, while strongly condemning a recent call by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) factional chairman, Tanimu Turaki, for foreign intervention in Nigeria.

The reception for Governor Kefas, originally scheduled for Wednesday, 19 November 2025, was postponed as a mark of respect for members of the armed forces and civilians recently killed in terror-related attacks, as well as victims of abductions, including students kidnapped in Kebbi State. APC national publicity secretary, Felix Morka, stated that a new date for the event would be announced later, adding that the party mourns the loss of lives and prays for the safe return of abducted students.

“We salute the courage and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line in defence of our liberty and security,” the party said, reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ending insurgency and banditry.

The APC also used the occasion to criticise Tanimu Turaki, who was declared factional chairman of the PDP barely 72 hours ago, for appealing to foreign powers to intervene in Nigeria to halt what he described as a “Christian genocide” and to protect democracy.

The ruling party described Turaki’s statement as unpatriotic and dangerous, adding that it reflects desperation and the internal crisis plaguing his party. The APC accused him of abandoning reconciliation efforts in favour of inflammatory rhetoric.

The party further noted that during the PDP’s 16 years in power, no such call for external intervention was made regarding internal party disputes. According to the APC, Turaki’s comments expose the PDP’s inability to manage its internal contradictions and should be dismissed by the international community.

The APC urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in support of the administration of President Bola Tinubu as it continues efforts to secure the country and promote national development.
