APC releases guidelines for primary elections, sets N100m for presidential nomination form

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released guidelines for its primary elections and fixed N100 million as the cost of the presidential nomination form for the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, the APC said the timetable aligns with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) schedule.

According to the timetable, the notice of election to state chapters was issued on April 20, 2026, while the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms will take place from April 25 to May 2, 2026.

The party fixed May 4, 2026, as the deadline for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents, while screening of aspirants for State Houses of Assembly and the House of Representatives will hold from May 6 to May 8. Screening for Senate, governorship and presidential aspirants is slated for May 9.

Publication of screening results is scheduled for May 11, while appeals arising from the screening exercise will be handled between May 12 and May 13, 2026.

The APC said primary elections for the State Houses of Assembly and House of Representatives will hold between May 15 and May 16, while the presidential primary is fixed for May 18. Senate primaries will take place on May 20, followed by State House of Assembly on May 21 and governorship primaries on May 23, 2026.

The party also outlined dates for election appeals, with presidential appeals slated for May 18, House of Representatives for May 20, Senate for May 21, State House of Assembly for May 23, and governorship appeals for May 25, 2026.

On the cost of forms, the APC said aspirants for State House of Assembly will pay N6 million, House of Representatives N10 million, Senate N20 million, governorship N50 million, and presidential aspirants N100 million, adding that female, youth and physically challenged aspirants will pay only for the expression of interest form and 50 per cent of the nomination fee.
