Ahead of the 2025 local government elections in Osun State, the immediate past Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still the party to beat in the state.
Owoeye made this statement on Monday while briefing journalists in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, regarding the activities planned to mark the 70th birthday anniversary of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola.
The APC stalwart confidently asserted that the party is not merely participating but is striving for victory to reaffirm its dominance in the state and the nation.
“We are going to the local government election to win, not just to participate. We want to prove to the entire state and nation that the APC remains the party to beat. We have submitted the forms for all our candidates, from the Chairman to the Counselors, so we are participating,” he stated.
While announcing that the Minister would be conducting a medical outreach for about 5,000 residents as part of the birthday celebrations, Owoeye emphasized that the Osun APC would be celebrating the Minister modestly.
He explained, “As far as the medical outreach is concerned, our target is 1,000 patients per center. The four-day medical outreach aims to treat the vulnerable and needy, beginning in Osogbo on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Office at 9:00 AM. The medical outreach train will then move to Ilesa on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM.
“The people of Iwo will have the opportunity to participate in the medical outreach program on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 9:00 AM, while the residents of Iragbiji can access the medical outreach on Friday, September 27, 2024. The program will culminate in Ilesa with surgical procedures on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
“We will also be distributing raw food items to less-privileged members of society at selected mosques, churches, and other accredited centers across the state on Friday, September 27, and Sunday, September 28, 2024.
“Finally, the grand finale of the 70th birthday celebration will take place in Iragbiji, featuring a lecture and prayer session at the residence of the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.”
