APC screens Uzodimma for Imo West Senate seat, pledges loyalty to party

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State says the economic reforms introduced by the administration of President Bola Tinubu are necessary for Nigeria’s long-term growth despite the current economic challenges facing citizens.

Uzodimma stated this after appearing before the screening committee of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the party’s National Assembly primary election on Saturday.

In a post shared via his X handle on Sunday, the governor said the people of Imo West had once again called on him to serve, adding that he accepted the responsibility with humility and dedication.

“My dear people of Imo West Senatorial District have once again called upon me to serve, and I have accepted this noble call with utmost humility, sincerity of purpose, and unwavering commitment to the collective advancement of our people,” he said.

Uzodimma noted that his appearance before the APC leadership and screening committee was in line with the party’s democratic process.

He stressed that the senatorial seat belongs to the APC and not to any individual aspirant.

“I reaffirmed that the Senatorial seat I seek to occupy belongs first and foremost to our great party, while I remain only a loyal and dedicated candidate entrusted with the responsibility of projecting and advancing the ideals, vision, and aspirations of the APC,” he stated.

The governor also commended the APC for what he described as its commitment to purposeful leadership, people-oriented governance, and the delivery of democratic dividends across the country.
