APC slams Peter Obi for echoing Atiku’s lies about Tinubu’s credentials

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, for “echoing Atiku Abubakar’s lies” about President Bola Tinubu’s identity and academic credentials.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Obi accused Tinubu of lying about his identity and his degree from the Chicago State University (CSU). He demanded that the President reintroduce himself to Nigerians and prove that he graduated with honors from the CSU.
“Peter Obi, demanded that the President reintroduce himself to Nigerians, as though the 8.9 million Nigerians who voted him last February were all groggy when they made their free democratic choice,” the APC said in a press statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
The APC said that Obi’s attack was a desperate and pathetic attempt to gain cheap media attention and join Atiku’s bandwagon of calumny against Tinubu. The party said that Obi was acting like a puppet of Atiku, who had filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 presidential election.
The APC said that Nigerians had rejected Atiku and Obi in the last election and that they had no moral or legal standing to question Tinubu’s qualifications. The party said that Tinubu had an outstanding record of service and achievement in both public and private sectors and that he did not need a re-introduction.
“Mr. Obi must know that President Tinubu does not need a re-introduction. He does not have any identity problem, except the one contrived by the Atikus and Peters of our political firmament,” the APC said.
“The 8.9 million Nigerians who voted him into office were, and remain, aware of his outstanding record and accomplishments as a defender of democracy, freedom, social and economic justice for over three decades,” the party added.
The APC also said that Tinubu’s academic record at the CSU was clear and settled and that the university had confirmed that he attended the school and graduated with honors. The party said that Tinubu’s transcript, which showed that he had 18As, 10Bs and 3Cs grades, was a testament to his stellar performance.
“The Chicago State University has unequivocally stated over and over again, and in a deposition, under oath, by the Registrar, Caleb Westberg that President Tinubu attended the school and graduated with Honours,” Tinubu himself said in response to Obi and Atiku’s allegations.
“Nigerians are now familiar with stellar academic performance of President Tinubu as evidenced by his transcript as released by the CSU with 18As, 10Bs and 3Cs grades,” he added.
The APC also condemned Obi and Atiku for trying to intimidate the judiciary and incite the public to violence with their false and misleading claims. The party said that it would explore all legal means to bring them to justice for their contemptuous conduct.
“It is disturbing and utterly contemptuous of the courts of our land for the duo of Atiku and Obi to rail and pollute the public space with the very same issues that they have submitted to the court for adjudication,” Tinubu said.
“They have continued to perpetrate public deception, operating, simultaneously, as accusers and judges in their own base cause,” he added.
The party urged all well-meaning Nigerians to condemn Obi and Atiku’s anti-democratic and irresponsible behavior and support Tinubu’s efforts to re-engineer the country’s economy for the good of the greatest number of Nigerians.
