Governor Hope Uzodimma has reaffirmed the unity and strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dismissing claims that the party operates as a one-man show.
Speaking to journalists after the APC Caucus meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the State House Conference Center in Abuja on Tuesday, Uzodimma emphasized that the ruling party remains focused and fully supportive of the Tinubu administration.
“The APC is united, stronger, and committed to the government. We must celebrate our own. The government enjoys full backing from the party, and we must continue to show that support,” he said.
The Imo governor highlighted the party’s diverse leadership structure, noting that representatives from all six geopolitical zones and governors from various states were present at the meeting.
He stressed that the APC’s constitution provides a framework for broad participation in decision-making.
Addressing concerns about internal democracy, Uzodimma credited the APC’s electoral successes to its organizational strength and commitment to democratic principles.
“We have a well-established selection process within the party. Why do we keep winning elections? Because we have demonstrated high capacity and respect for democracy,” he said.
He also praised President Tinubu’s leadership, stating that his administration has improved revenue generation, infrastructure development, and social reforms. He added that the APC had launched the Progressive Institute, an intellectual arm focused on research, manpower development, and capacity building for party members.
On national security, Uzodimma commended Tinubu’s efforts, citing improvements in Zamfara and the South-East, where farmers have returned to their fields and businesses are resuming normal operations.
“The president has done very well in managing insecurity, as testified today by one of our members from Zamfara. There is now relative peace, and people are going about their businesses,” he said.
The APC Caucus meeting was attended by top party officials, governors, and lawmakers, with discussions centered on strengthening the party and supporting the administration’s policies.
