A massive crowd of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State on Tuesday staged a six-kilometre Unity Walk in Osogbo in solidarity with the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the party’s governorship primaries.

The walk, which began at the Osogbo City Stadium and ended at IleriOluwa, Ogo-Oluwa area, was organised to drum up support for Oyebamiji’s governorship ambition. It attracted a large number of APC members and leaders who described the turnout as a demonstration of Oyebamiji’s growing popularity across the state.

Speaking with journalists after the rally, a former commissioner under ex-governor Gboyega Oyetola, Hon. Adebayo Adeleke, described the event as a remarkable day in the history of the party, saying the turnout showed that Oyebamiji was the aspirant to beat in the APC primary.

He said, “We are happy for this. It is obvious that Bola Oyebamiji is the candidate to beat. We are ready and prepared for the primary election—any day, anytime. There is no aspirant in the APC who is not competent, but Bola Oyebamiji stands above all. He is more acceptable, a gentleman, knowledgeable, and a financial expert who can strengthen the economic situation of Osun.”

Also speaking, former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, said the walk was not just a show of strength for Oyebamiji but also a reaffirmation that the APC remained the party to beat in Osun.

“This Unity Walk is to tell Osun people that the APC is united and ready for 2026. Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji stands out as a competent, tested, and trusted aspirant with a track record of performance both as a two-time commissioner and as MD of Osun Investment Company Limited,” Owoeye said.

Similarly, Kehinde Ayantunji, Special Adviser to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, lauded President Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, and Oyetola for their continued support for the APC since 2022, adding that their efforts had strengthened the party and rekindled public trust.

The massive turnout caused traffic gridlock in parts of Osogbo for several hours.
