The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has officially expelled former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola from the party over alleged anti-party activities.
In a letter addressed to the former Minister of Interior, titled “Allegations of Anti-Party Activities – Conveyance of State Exco Decision to You,” the APC stated that the decision followed a thorough investigation by the Disciplinary Committee, which found Aregbesola’s actions to have undermined the unity and integrity of the party.
The letter stated that the State Executive Committee (SEC) considered the report and resolved to accept the recommendation for Aregbesola’s immediate expulsion.
It partly reads:
“Having carefully considered the findings and recommendations of the Committee, the SEC has resolved to accept the recommendation of your immediate expulsion from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The decision was predicated on clear evidence of your actions, which undermined the unity and integrity of the party in violation of Article 21 of the APC Constitution, which guides the conduct and discipline of members.
“As a result, with the approval of your expulsion, you cease to be a member of the APC. Consequently, you are not to hold yourself out as a member or act in any capacity on behalf of the party in any manner whatsoever.
“While acknowledging your past contributions to the party, we trust that you will comply with this decision and act according to the directives in this communication.”
It would be recalled that the Omoluabi Caucus, a splinter group formed by Aregbesola, announced its decision to leave the APC at a meeting on Sunday.
