The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Lagos State as part of efforts to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The unveiling, held at Onikan Stadium in Lagos, attracted Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, lawmakers and other political leaders. The event also featured entertainment and the donation of 57 buses by the Lagos State Government to support the movement’s mobilisation activities.
Speaking at the event, Sanwo-Olu urged Lagos residents to support Tinubu’s re-election, citing what he described as the president’s achievements in the past three and a half years. He highlighted the student loan scheme, tax reforms and road construction projects in Lagos and other parts of the country as areas of progress under the administration.
Similarly, Ojelabi urged residents to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the next presidential election, referring to the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Lagos. He also encouraged eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the electoral process, insisting that the state should demonstrate its support for the president.
Representing the chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, the company’s managing director, Chief Kestin Pondi, highlighted measures taken by the Tinubu administration to address insecurity, including insurgency. Pondi expressed confidence that the president would secure substantial support in the Niger Delta and win re-election.
Addressing participants, the Director-General of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Sunday Asukonbi, said the initiative was established to take the achievements of the Tinubu administration to Nigerians through grassroots engagement. He urged supporters to avoid violence and intimidation as political activities ahead of the next election gather momentum.
“We are knowledgeable people. Convince them based on the achievements of President Tinubu and his administration. People can see his good work. They will support,” the director-general said, urging members to rely on persuasion and the administration’s record to win over voters.
The event also featured musical performances by several artistes, including Portable, while the donation of 57 buses was announced as part of efforts to strengthen the movement’s grassroots mobilisation and outreach across the state.
