APC urges Police, DSS to investigate PDP’s allegations on foiled attack on Atiku

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Nigerian Police and Department of State Services (DSS) to conduct a thorough investigation into the recent allegations made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding a foiled attack plot on the residence of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar in Yola.
The APC in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, strongly denied any involvement and labeled the accusations as “wild and bogus.”
The PDP had claimed that suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorist group, who were arrested by the Police for their foiled plot, were allegedly sponsored by the APC.
In response, the APC accused the PDP of engaging in a campaign of “spewing lies and gibberish” in the aftermath of their crushing defeat in the last presidential election.
“This bizarre and senseless allegation comes only days after the same badly ailing party alleged, without a shred of substantiation, that APC was engaged in a plot to intimidate members of the judiciary seeking to influence the outcome of pending cases before the Election Petitions Courts,” Morka said.
The APC added that matters of security and national importance should not be politicized, and called on the PDP to refrain from engaging in “criminal blackmail and wicked falsehoods” in the name of opposition politics.
“Atiku Abubakar is a citizen of Nigeria and deserves the fullest protection of the law. Our law enforcement authorities must protect and investigate any threat to his person, family, or assets and prosecute offenders,” he added.
The APC further urged the relevant security agencies to invite the PDP’s leadership to substantiate their claims and bring the perpetrators of the alleged attack plot to justice.
The statement also criticized the PDP for not accepting the election results and instead engaging in a series of allegations and distractions.
“Nigerians roundly rejected the PDP at the polls. Rather than engage in some introspection and give the court the time of day to deliver a verdict in the case they have brought challenging the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, they have chosen to busy themselves with swimming in the abysmal pool of lies and mischief,” the statement read.
The APC reaffirmed its commitment to defend its legitimate election mandate in court while also focusing on President Tinubu’s strategic program of social and economic development aimed at improving the living conditions of the Nigerian people.
