…says party didn’t lose the July 16 election
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Prince Gboyega Famodun on Tuesday said the party did not lose the July 16 governorship election.
Famodun made the statement during the party’s local government campaign flag-off held at the APC secretariat, Osogbo ahead of Saturday’s local government election.
The APC chairman charged members to tell anyone who asked them that the party was not defeated and that the work of the Lord is still in progress.
He said: “If anyone thinks we lost the July 16 election, we did not lose the election.
“How can we lose when the opposition was discovered to have won in polling units that they had over-voting.
“I believe that by God’s grace, we are still the one in power.
“Before we got our mandate in 2010, we lost the case three times. By God’s grace, this time too, the Lord will help us.”
Famodun commended members of the party for their courage after the governorship election.
He charged the flagbearers of the party across the local governments and the Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) to mobilize from all nooks and crannies in their area.
He noted that the local government election will further strengthen the party, appealing to those who lost during the primaries to work together with the flagbearer in other to emerge victorious.
“What we are here for today is to remind you to campaign at your various wards and local government areas for votes. Go to your various communities and canvass for votes. The last election has gone. There’s an adage that says ‘no one knows tomorrow’. Between July 16 and now, a lot of things have happened.
“This local government election that would take place this Saturday is a tonic to the party which will revive the party.
“The local government is the base of the party and as such we want to lay foundation for the party,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democrats Party (PDP), said it will boycott the poll fixed for October 15, 2022, by the state Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC).
