APP to participate in Osun LG polls, accuses AGF of bias

The Action Peoples Party (APP) has reaffirmed its readiness to participate in the local government election scheduled for tomorrow, February 22, 2025.
The party’s chairman in Osun State, Odesola Titus, told newsmen in Osogbo on Friday that the decision was based on a valid judgment of the Court of Appeal, which affirmed the nullification of the October 15, 2022, local government election in the state. He also referenced the ruling of the Osogbo Federal High Court on November 30, 2022, which annulled the election for contravening electoral laws.
Titus called on residents to vote for the APP in the upcoming election.
“I urge the patriotic citizens of Osun State to join us in this noble cause by voting en masse for our great party, the APP, in the scheduled election,” he said.
However, he condemned the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, for what he described as a biased interpretation of court judgments.
“It is ridiculous, to say the least, that a law officer of the Federation would deliberately feign ignorance of a subsisting court judgment while cherry-picking another ruling that suits his tailored narrative,” Titus stated.
He questioned the integrity of Fagbemi’s position and urged the AGF to defend his stance in court rather than undermine the rule of law.
“The Attorney General of the Federation is not above the courts of Nigeria. He is advised to test his opinion in a court of law, in line with the Nigerian Constitution, which establishes the office of the Attorney General—an entity distinct from constitutional courts,” the APP chairman added.
