Appeal Court affirms Adeleke as Osun PDP guber candidate

The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo State has ruled that Osun State Governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke remained the authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the July 16 governorship election.

The court dismissed a suit filed by Dotun Babayemi against Adeleke.

Babayemi had approached the court, asking to be declared the PDP candidate.

Two factions of the party had conducted separate primaries in the state on March 8, with Adeleke and Babayemi emerging candidates.

Adeleke was however recognised by the national leadership of the party.

He went on to defeat the incumbent and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gboyega Oyetola.

Adeleke polled a total of 403,371 votes ahead of Oyetola in second place with 375,027 votes.
