The Omoluabi Progressives, a political group within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, loyal to former governor and National Secretary of the party, Rauf Aregbesola, has resolved to zone its 2026 governorship ticket to the Osun West Senatorial District.
The decision was reached at the group’s November meeting held in Ilesa, which had stakeholders from all 332 wards across the state in attendance.
Addressing members, Aregbesola announced that the apex body of the Omoluabi Progressives had agreed to present a single, formidable aspirant from Osun West for the December 12 governorship primary of the party.
He explained that the decision was aimed at demonstrating unity and strength ahead of the 2026 general election.
The former governor said, “I commend all of you for your dedication to building the movement. The apex body of the Omoluabi Progressives has resolved to present a single, formidable aspirant from the Osun West Senatorial District for the December 12 ADC primaries to demonstrate unity and strength.”
Aregbesola, however, assured that other aspirants in the ADC would be given a level playing field to participate in the primary, adding that the solidification of the ADC in the nine federal constituencies of the state would commence soon.
Chairman of the Omoluabi Progressives, Alhaji Issa Azeez, commended members for their continued loyalty and charged them to mobilise actively for the forthcoming party congresses and federal constituency tours in preparation for victory in the 2026 governorship election.
Earlier, the Membership Mobilisation, Revalidation, and Registration Committee of the ADC, led by Hon. Kamil Mudashir, called on members to participate actively in the forthcoming registration exercise to strengthen the party’s structure ahead of the election.
