Aremo Osoba hails cordial relationship with Governor Abiodun

Former Ogun State governor, Chief Olusegun Aremo Osoba, has described his relationship with Governor Dapo Abiodun as “very cordial and mutual,” emphasising that issues of godfatherism have not influenced the state’s politics.
Speaking on Monday in an interview with journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital, Chief Osoba said that since Governor Abiodun assumed office in 2019, he has refrained from interfering in his administration. He added that he has never recommended anyone for a position in the state government.
Akinrogun of Egbaland, Chief Osoba, said, “I have never put any pressure on him or suggested nominees for any office since he assumed office. I have always played a fatherly role in the state. You can never even hear my name mentioned in any way; it is his administration, so we should let him be. He knows what is good for him, and I have never interfered.”
The former governor, who is also a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that their godfather relationship is grounded in mutual respect and understanding.
“I respect him as the chief executive officer of the state and current father of the state. I give him that respect, and he reciprocates it with respect to me as a national leader of our great party,” he said.
Chief Osoba further noted that the harmony between him and Governor Abiodun has contributed to peace, stability, and tranquility in Ogun State.
