Arsenal extend Premier League table lead with 2-0 win at Burnley

Premier League leaders Arsenal continued their impressive start to the season with a comfortable 2-0 victory at Burnley, making it nine consecutive wins in all competitions.
Goals from Viktor Gyökeres and Declan Rice sealed the result — their fifth straight league win — as Mikel Arteta’s side moved seven points clear at the top, although they have played a game more than some of their rivals.
It was an assured performance against a Burnley side that can often be difficult to break down and had recorded back-to-back victories before facing the Gunners.
No team has scored more goals from set pieces than Arsenal this season, and it was from one that they took the lead — Gyökeres firing in from close range after Rice’s corner.
Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka produced a fine one-handed save to deny Bukayo Saka, before Leandro Trossard had an effort cleared off the line.
Arsenal doubled their advantage before the break when Rice powered in a header from Trossard’s chipped cross.
Burnley saw more of the ball after the interval and went close to pulling one back when Florentino Luís headed over from close range, before Marcus Edwards struck the post with a free kick in the final moments.
That late chance aside, it was largely a trouble-free afternoon for Arsenal as they recorded their eighth win in 10 Premier League matches this season.
