Arsenal maintain unbeaten run in UEFA Champions League

English Premier League table toppers, Arsenal, on Wednesday night continued their impressive run in the UEFA Champions League with a 3–2 win over Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan.

It was a perfect response from the Gunners following last Sunday’s disappointing 3–2 home loss to Manchester United.

Wednesday’s win at the Emirates ensured Mikel Arteta’s side maintained their 100 per cent record, with eight wins from eight matches.

Viktor Gyökeres put Arsenal ahead as early as the second minute, with Kai Havertz providing the assist.

The visitors shocked the hosts with an equaliser five minutes later through Jorginho, who converted from the penalty spot.

Havertz restored Arsenal’s lead in the 16th minute, with Ben White providing the assist.

Arsenal ended the first half with a two-goal cushion as Gabriel Martinelli added the third in the 38th minute, this time with Gyökeres supplying the pass.

Gabriel Jesus thought he had added a fourth in the 88th minute but had his effort ruled out after a VAR check, before Almaty reduced the deficit four minutes into added time through Richarlison.
