Artificial Intelligence, bad actors and the future of human race, by Aderemi Ogunpitan

We are entering a turbulent period that feels like the beginning of a global dystopia. Across the world, wars, shifting power blocs, collapsing economies, and the erosion of trust in institutions, show how fragile freedom, accountability, human connection, and morality have become. AI is also impacting our world in new and consequential ways.

This disarray is not caused by artificial intelligence itself but by those who will use it to manipulate, exploit, and control. As with every great technology in history, AI reflects the morality of its users, and right now it is in the hands of both visionaries and bad actors.

Put on your safety belts because the years ahead may unfold in phases. In the near term, fragmentation is already deepening as nations harden into rival blocs, inequality widens, and disinformation corrodes truth, as we see today, especially on social media.

Authoritarian leaders will seek to gain ground, (look at what Trump is doing in America), promising stability while tightening control, even as climate shocks and automation displace millions. This could mark the darkest stretch, a period defined by surveillance, economic polarization, and moral erosion.

Yet history shows humanity often awakens renewal, as popular movements push back, demanding fairness, accountability, and safeguards against abuse.

International AI treaties will emerge, communities will become vital centers of resilience, and society will rediscover empathy, meaning, and moral responsibility. This moral reckoning will not erase the pain, but it will begin to restore balance.

Renewal will evetually take hold. Global compacts on climate, economics, and AI could stabilize societies. New social contract, universal income, fairer wealth distribution, and human-centered innovation may emerge. The dystopia will not vanish overnight, but it will evolve into a workable equilibrium where progress and morality coexist.

This outlook is not pessimistic but realistic. Humanity has endured world wars, depressions, and near-collapse before. Each time, crises forced reinvention. We are not going to escape the storm, but by carrying our humanity through it, we can reshape what lies beyond. The future beckons. Keep your eyes open and your mind engaged. Its going to be a roller-coaster ride.
