Aspirant threatens court action, says Ondo APC senatorial primary fraudulent

By Temitope Adedeji, Akure

An aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ondo Central Senatorial District primaries, Otunba Adeniran Oyebade has described the just concluded exercise as a fraud.

Addressing journalists in Akure on Tuesday, Oyebade disclosed that delegates from Ondo West/East were stylishly deceived and transported to Akure about four days to the primaries and were not released until after the election.

He said further that almost all the delegates did not know the aspirants to vote because they were all handpicked by the representatives of the preferred candidate.

“Irregularities were done with impunity in which the so – called delegates were kidnapped from Ondo town to Akure to vote for the governor’s preferred candidate.

“I have never seen an open robbery like this in my life where delegates were asked to vote for a particular aspirant.

“The election was not free, fair nor credible as being claimed by the party. Names of aspirants were not on ballot paper; it was a day time robbery,” he said.

According to him, all the aspirants have agreed that if nothing was done by the relevant authorities of the party both at the national and state level, they will challenge the outcome in court.

Reacting to the allegation however, Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Alex Kaleijaye noted that losers in an election should learn to take defeats and stop being frivolous about issues.

He urged the aggrieved aspirants to take the defeats in good fate and work for the progress of the party

“It is a general believe that some will lament over their failure even when they know that they are bad losers.

“They should leave behind them the defeats and forge ahead, tomorrow can be a better time instead of hammering on what is not,” Kaleijaye said.
