Assassination Attempt: How APC Guber candidate, Okpebholo cheated death
Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC candidate for governorship in Edo State in the September 2024 election, just barely avoided being assassinated on Thursday afternoon at the Benin Airport.
Unfortunately, Inspector Akon, his police orderly, tragically perished in the attack.
Senator Okpebholo was reportedly ambushed in his motorcade as he was leaving the airport after arriving from Abuja, by thugs allegedly sponsored by unknown persons.
Three mobile police officers who were part of the senator’s security detail were also shot by the attackers during the heated altercation, and one of them died as a result of his wounds.
As of the time of this report, a number of people who have been shot at different hospitals are undergoing treatment for their injuries.
Along with other members of his entourage who were hurt in the incident, Senator Okpebholo is reportedly receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital in Benin City.
