Goodluck Jonathan extols former PDP National Chairman, Solomon Lar

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has joined other political leaders to extol the virtues of the first civilian Governor of Plateau State, Chief Solomon Lar.

Chief Lar who was also the first National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was celebrated and led the party to victory in 1999 in the transition programme midwifed by the military administration of General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd).

The family of the late elder statesman led by his widow, Professor Mary Lar on Thursday in Abuja presented his memoir to the public at an event attended by friends, associates and top politicians which include Secretary to the Government of Federation, Boss Mustapha, Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige and former Minister of Information, Jerry Ghana.

At the ceremony, former President Jonathan while remembering the life of Solomon Lar described him as a sincere statesman who left an enduring legacy for present generation of leaders and politicians to emulate.

Jonathan said: “I am pleased to have joined the first civilian First Lady of Old Plateau State H.E. Amb. (Prof) Mrs. Mary Lar, friends, political proteges and well wishers of the late statesman Chief Solomon Daushep Lar at the public presentation of ‘Chronices of the Rainbow’ (an autobiography of Chief Lar) and launch of the Solomon Lar Leadership Institute.

“Chief Solomon Lar left a rich and enduring political legacy. I believe we all have so much to learn from Chief Lar, a sincere statesman who played politics of inclusion, equity, peace, bridge-building, courage and patriotism.”
