Atiku vows to resist election fraud, promote reform under ADC coalition

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has pledged to resist any form of election rigging and fight against poor governance in Nigeria. He made this known on Saturday through a post on his official X handle, following a meeting with Gombe stakeholders led by former minister and senator, Idris Abdullahi.
During the engagement, Atiku criticized the leadership failures that have subjected Nigerians to hardship despite the nation’s vast resources.
He emphasized that the new coalition of opposition forces, now operating under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is committed to ushering in positive change and responsible leadership.
“Yesterday, I vowed to stand against the stealing of elections and oppose bad governance,” Atiku stated. “The coalition of opposition leaders under the umbrella of the ADC would work assiduously to usher in a positive change that will transform the lives of our people.”
He also highlighted the quality and credibility of the coalition’s interim leadership, stating it reflects their preparedness to restore accountability and dignity in governance.
Atiku expressed appreciation to the Gombe stakeholders for their loyalty and alignment with the ADC’s goals. He recalled his role in shaping Gombe’s political direction by supporting the election of Danjuma Goje as governor in 2003.
He further asserted that the coalition’s mission is to provide the kind of leadership Nigerians deserve — one rooted in integrity and people-focused development.
Recently, Atiku and several other opposition figures formally announced the ADC as their adopted political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
