Auto crash claims Unilorin student’s arm, others injured

Several students from the University of Ilorin sustained varying degrees of injury in a lone auto accident along the university road on Thursday afternoon.

Western Post gathered that the accident, which involved a small commercial bus popularly called “Korope,” resulted from a tire burst while the bus was in motion.

It was also reported that the auto crash, which occurred close to the university gate, saw some university security officials trying to manage the situation.

An eyewitness said that one of the victims of the accident lost her arm, while another female victim appeared lifeless on the road.

When contacted, the Director of Corporate Affairs of the university, Mr. Kunle Akogun, confirmed the incident. However, he stated that there were no fatalities.

Akogun mentioned that those involved in the accident were being treated at the school clinic.

In a video of the accident scene circulating in the Ilorin metropolis on Thursday, victims were seen on the road writhing in pain, while a female student with blood on her head appeared lifeless on the road.

Another victim, a man in a suit, was struggling to stand up but kept falling as he tried to regain his balance.
