Ayu not interested in PDP winning 2023 presidential election – Adoke

Former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Mohammed Adoke, has accused national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , Iyorchia Ayu, of lack of interest in the party winning next year’s elections.

In a press statement on Friday, Adoke said the national chairman is fueling the crisis in PDP by his refusal to step down.

Ayu and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State have been engaging in war of words in the last few days after falling out since former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar became the presidential candidate of the party.

Ayu had earlier accused Adoke as one of the allies of Nyesom Wike causing trouble in the party.

Reacting to the development, Adoke said “Ayu’s statement is rather unfortunate and goes to show that he is more interested in self-preservation than the party winning the 2023 presidential election.

“I think he has grudges or scores to settle with the party’s candidate and as such would rather see to his defeat than help him win the election,” he said.

“If otherwise, why is he so determined to destroy the party by dividing rather than uniting it? Atiku should smell the coffee and take charge so this agent of destruction would not lead him and the party to doom.

“Wike is not the problem of the party. People should stand up and speak the truth rather than engage in doublespeak and name calling.”
