Baba Fryo accuses Nasboi of copyright infringement in ‘Short Skirt’

Veteran Nigerian musician Baba Fryo has publicly called out rising star and content creator Nasboi, accusing him of copyright infringement. The allegation centers around Nasboi’s use of lyrics from Baba Fryo’s classic hit song “Denge Pose” in his latest release, “Short Skirt.”
In a viral video circulating on social media, Baba Fryo expressed his frustration, demanding proper credit and compensation for the unauthorized use of his lyrics. The musician emphasized that this issue has been a recurring problem and warned that he is prepared to take legal action if Nasboi does not reach out to him.
In his own words, Baba Fryo stated, “Nigerians, I greet una. This thing don dey happen e don tey, and I was not happy with it. But now, I want to take action. You see that song wey Nasboi sings about ‘short skirt’. My lyrics ‘Dengo dey denge Denge’ are inside the verse. So, anybody wey know Nasboi should tell him to reach out to me before water go pass garri.”
The veteran artist further added, “As you are looking at me, I’m not happy, but this one must be the last time that anyone will use my song without telling me. You people should tell him to reach out to me before I take action.”
Nasboi, who first gained popularity through his content creation on YouTube, has since made a successful transition into the music industry, collaborating with prominent artists like Wande Coal on the track “Umbrella.” As the situation unfolds, fans and observers are keen to see how Nasboi responds to Baba Fryo’s demands, and whether this dispute will be resolved amicably or escalate to legal proceedings.
